How to Prepare for the CET Exam in 2021
how to prepare for CET exam 2021

All functioning government and private engineering institutions in India make admissions based on the applicant’s Common Entrance Score (CET) results. It is a competitive exam conducted for admission of students to the first year or first semester of full-time courses in medical, dental, and engineering courses in professional colleges in the various states of India. Good CET scores usually if not always guarantee entry into a well-established institution.

So, it must come without a doubt that if you’re determined to study at the college of your liking, you have to score well in the exam. CET exam preparation can get overwhelming if you have just considered attempting it, but it doesn’t have to be.

There’s a lot of noise on the internet about how to prepare for your CET exam, but this will be the only guide you need on How to prepare for CET一

  • Figure Out the Examination Pattern:

Here’s the thing一 these tests can be particularly trained for and you don’t have to be a know-it-all to score well. The trick here is to not burden yourself with a lot of information but rather start with the end in mind.

Once you know the pattern and the types of questions you will be presented with, you can easily work your way up from there. All aspirants must have a good understanding of the exam pattern and the syllabus before starting their preparation. Though the syllabus of the exam is based on that of classes 11 and 12, you must know which topics to study from the syllabus of both classes. Exam pattern provides an overview of the question paper’s structure, types of questions asked, and the marking scheme.

  • Organize Your Preparation:

It would be in your interest to first take time to set a rough framework for your preparations rather than jumping right in to study. It is very common for aspirants to get overwhelmed and give more importance to one aspect of the test than others.

This can be easily overcome by a game plan for your period of studies. Based on the syllabus of the exam, candidates should prepare a study plan for CET’s. The study plan must contain the overall strategy for covering all the topics, regular revisions, and taking the mock tests.

  • Collect the Right Resources:

It is important to study from the right books or study material. Inappropriate books may lead to confusion among students. So, you must start your preparation with NCERT and the books referred by your mentors or previous year exam toppers.

Go for the book that covers the whole syllabus. Thanks to social activeness, candidates can also join social study groups on Facebook, Telegram, or Whatsapp groups.

  • Build Your Solving Speed:

You will have only 80 minutes to solve the question paper for each subject. Try to solve the previous year’s question papers in prescribed timing. Also, keep track of your performance. It will help you to work on your weak points. Practicing the question papers will increase the efficiency and speed of attempting questions.

Also, tables, squares, and cubes have to be in your arsenal for successful mental calculation. You should attempt to develop approximations, decimal fractions, and percentages for better performance. Try to improve your vocabulary by skimming through newspapers and reading books; also by learning new words from a dictionary regularly. Finding new words, discovering word usage are all important factors for CET.

  • Practice, Practice, Practice:

It is advised to practice more and more sample papers and mock tests of CET. It will increase your speed and help you manage your time well. These sample papers and mock tests are based on the actual pattern of the exam and it will also be helpful for you in analyzing your preparation levels.

Identifying your strengths is an important factor in your preparation for cracking the CET exam because it’s a time-based exam. Knowing your strengths will assist you in saving a huge chunk of time and scoring well. Refine your strengths further and make sure you avoid errors when it comes to your weaknesses. Practice the subject or subtopics as a must as you’ll buy timely revision.

Once you’ve identified your strengths and weaknesses, it’s really important to line small improvement targets and see if you’re meeting those targets and thus review them. Self-assessment is extremely important if you are looking to score well and aim for a reputed institution.
