Valedictory Ceremony 2023 at Presidency School & PU College Mangalore

A day earmarked in the school calendar as a special day, Saturday February 4, was the day the Presidency School & PU College bid a fond farewell to the outgoing batch of PUC II, CBSE Class X & XII students. It was the day the students took center stage; a day the faculty experienced mixed feelings of pride and sadness; a day that will forever be etched in the collective consciousness of PSMNG as covering yet another milestone in this beautiful journey of togetherness. It was the most awaited moment of the year for the outgoing batch- their valedictory function.

Walking down the aisle in all their splendour, with their heads held high, the chief guest of the evening – the outgoing batch of students, took their much-coveted places

he solemn music that ushered them in set the tone for the rest of the evening. The symbolic lighting of the lamp and the mother candle by the chief guest, Dr Bharath Y Shetty, MLA Mangaluru north constituency, guest of honour Amarnath S S Bhandari, SP excise department, DK, Suhael Ahmed, vice chairman – Presidency Group of Institutions, management coordinator Javed Lathif, the principal, Shaila Saldanha, CODs Ayesha Ilham, Anand Prasad and Suman Shetty took on an added significance as did the invocation that followed. To honour the memory and the secularism in school, prayers from Guru Vachan, Bhagavad Gita, Bible and Quran were read out by the students.

he evening progressed with the welcome speech by Akhilesh Kuckian, HOD commerce department. The principal, while addressing the gathering gave her dear students the greatest gift of all – her blessings and wishes for each student to make giant contributions to the society. The mantle of responsibility was passed on to the school vice-captain and a solemn oath was taken by him. More blessings followed in the form of the inspiring speech by the chief guest. Dr Bharath Shetty, who in his address advised the students to pursue a goal and to strive to make a difference in this world. Amarnath S S Bhandari, SP excise department, DK also address the students and shared his experience; He also encouraged students with his words of wisdom. The international, national and state level award winners of Presidency School & PU College Mangalore were also felicitated. Each student then had his\her moment of glory as he\she proudly walked up on stage to receive the award. The valedictory speeches by the students and the parents touched many hearts and brought tears to many eyes, as the students nostalgically reflected upon their journey in PSMNG and expressed their heartfelt gratitude for all the learning received through the years. Throughout the ceremony, the choir had the audience in rapture with the soulful rendering of many a song. This was followed by the most solemn moment of the entire ceremony-the taking of the oath led by Keerthana C V. Suraksha, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the PSMNG Family. Preethi J Saldanha and Angeline D’Souza were the comperes. Ayesha Ilham, COD, Anand Prasad, COD, Akhilesh Kuckian, HOD commerce, Rashmitha, HOD science, Latha D and Sowjanya PUC department were the conveners. Amidst an enchanting choir ensemble, the memorable function drew to a close,

with the outgoing students’ leaving the Amphitheatre with mixed emotions.
